Kaitlyn & Cody

Kaitlyn and Cody met and began dating while in high school and have been together ever since. They got engaged in college and married in 2013.

At the age of 19, Kaitlyn was diagnosed with PCOS, but didn’t really understand the impact it would have on her fertility until years later when the couple decided to start a family. After several months of trying on their own without success, Kaitlyn tried Clomid and Femara. After two long years and one unsuccessful IUI, Kaitlyn had a laparoscopic surgery to rule out endometriosis. No endometriosis was found, but she did have a blockage in her cervix that was removed. She also endured ovarian drilling. Kaitlyn and Cody thought these tests and procedures would be the solution, but after six more months and another unsuccessful IUI, they didn’t know what else to do.

After a ton of research, Kaitlyn and Cody decided to see a specialist at the Institute of Reproductive Health. It was there that they learned IVF would likely be the best option to start a family. After reviewing the costs of IVF, they needed some time to think it over and figure out a game plan.

In the spring of 2018, Kaitlyn found out she was pregnant for the first time! Unfortunately, it was a chemical pregnancy and she miscarried shortly after finding out. Months later after the heartbreak, the couple decided they weren’t going to wait any longer. However, in order to move forward with IVF, Kaitlyn and Cody were going to have to take out a loan. When she called to make the appointment, she was informed about the Parental Hope Family Grant. They didn’t know what to expect, but it was worth a shot!

“Finding out we were one of the recipients of a Parental Hope Grant was amazing. We were so surprised and are still processing it all. Words cannot describe how thankful and grateful we are for Parental Hope and this wonderful chance to hopefully, finally get our miracle!”
