Katie & Jason

Jason and Katie were high school sweethearts.  They grew up in the same town, went to the same schools, and dated their senior year of high school.  They were married in 2006 and after many years of not being able to get pregnant, they were referred to the Institute for Reproductive Health in 2014.  They continued on their infertility journey.  After multiple labs and tests they fell into the category of “unexplained infertility.”

There were no clear cut answers to why they couldn’t get pregnant, only that it wasn’t working. Jason and Katie decided to move forward with IUI. After completing four IUIs they were no closer to their dreams of becoming parents. They found themselves faced with a huge decision. Their insurance did not offer infertility coverage and everything up until this point had been paid out of pocket. IVF was being recommended and came with a rather large price tag.  After much consideration, Jason and Katie took out a loan and began the IVF process. They transferred one embryo, but had an early miscarriage. Jason and Katie then transferred their two remaining frozen embryos, but again, experienced an early miscarriage. They regrouped mentally and physically before starting their second round of IVF. This time, they transferred two fresh embryos and had none to freeze.  One embryo finally stuck and the couple welcomed their amazing daughter in 2016.  While Jason and Katie felt very fortunate and blessed to have their daughter, their hearts continued to ache and dreamed of expanding their family.

With their financial resources exhausted they applied for the Parental Hope Grant in 2018, however, they were not chosen as a recipient.  Not ready to give up hope, they again applied for the Grant in 2019 and this time, their luck had changed and was chosen!

“Our dream is that through this gift from Parental Hope, we will be able to give our daughter a sibling. Thank you, Parental Hope!”
