Laura Ghory

Laura and her husband, Jim, began trying for a child in 2014. After six months with no success Laura was diagnosed with mild PCOS. They tried for another six months before deciding to seek help from the Institute of Reproductive Health. Over the next six months they did three IUIs and more medicated cycles with no luck. Early 2016 brought a round of IVF. They transferred two embryos, but still didn’t get pregnant. They ended up taking the month off from treatments after the failed IVF cycle. On the day that Laura had planned to start taking medication for the next treatment cycle she instead took a pregnancy test and was shocked when she saw her first ever positive test result. In December 2016, they welcomed their beautiful and healthy son, Joey.

Laura earned her B.S.B.A in Management Information Systems from The Ohio State University. She has been working for General Electric since 2006 in a variety of IT roles and currently is working as a Technical Program Manager on Divestitures.

Laura feels lucky on so many levels. Compared to most couples battling infertility, they had a relatively short battle but the pain and struggle of infertility is something that never leaves you, even after you have your baby in your arms. She was fortunate enough to work for an employer like GE that provides infertility coverage. Without that benefit, IVF likely wouldn’t have been a possibility for them. Taking that gratefulness with her is what sparked her interest and passion to support Parental Hope’s mission. She became involved in the Event Planning Committee in 2016 and she has served as Event Planning Co-Chair since 2019 and remains in that role.

Laura lives in Evendale, Ohio with her husband, her son Joey and their cat, Booger. When she isn’t working as a project manager, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, photography and crafting.
