Megan & Dragan

Megan and Dragan met in June 2007 at a Relay for Life Walk event in Megan’s hometown; they began dating that September. They were engaged in February 2014 and married in October of the same year. Seven months after getting married they decided that they wanted to expand their family and began to try to conceive naturally. After months of trying, tears, negative pregnancy tests and fear that something serious could be wrong, they decided it was time to talk a doctor.

Megan spoke with her doctor who ran the typical blood tests and ultrasounds; the tests revealed that she had polyps and fibroid tumors. After having surgery to remove the polyps and fibroid tumors, Megan and Dragan finally hoped they were on the right path to conceive naturally. After a few more months of trying and still having negative pregnancy tests, a semen analysis was ordered for Dragan. The test came back abnormal and they were referred to a specialist. Dragan was provided a list of vitmains to take and was prescribed Clomid. Another few months passed and another semen analysis revealed that the medications had helped but not enough for them to ever be able to conceive naturally and the numbers were not high enough to try IUI and we would immediately have to move forward with IVF.

In August of 2017, they first met with Dr. Scheiber at the Institute for Reproductive Health and discussed the process of IVF and more tests were ran; more Fibroid tumors were found and removed before the process could even begin. Megan and Dragan decided to wait until the start of 2018 to begin their first cycle. Their first cycle ended in a negative and in August 2018, their second cycle ended in an early miscarriage. They were devastated and completely heartbroken. They felt that they had come so far on this journey for it to end without having the child that they both desperately wanted. Megan learned about Parental Hope and was following their website and social media accounts when the Journey to Parenthood 2019 event was announced with the chance to win an IVF cycle. The night of the Journey to Parenthood event Megan and Dragan were completely shocked and grateful that they won one of the four IVF cycles that were awarded that night.

“Receiving this amazing opportunity to try to expand our family is an answered prayer and we are extremely grateful to Parental Hope and IRH. We are very excited to start to continue our journey.”
