Samantha & Nicholas

Samantha and Nick have been together for 10 years and married for two. Samantha is a banker and Nick is an electrical technician. The couple enjoys spending time with family, playing with their two boxers, Odin & Freya, watching football and love anything to do with history. Nick enjoys golfing, bowling, and working outside around the home. Samantha enjoys crafting, bowling, and taking care of their dogs and cats.

Nick has two children from his first marriage, and they had always talked about adding to their little family. They decided in early 2014 to start trying. Unfortunately, over the next two years they had two miscarriages within six months of each other. They decided after the second miscarriage to stop trying and focus on Samantha’s mental health after being diagnosed with post-partum depression. The couple took the next year and a half to recover emotionally and focused on their relationship.

In 2018, Samantha and Nick got married and began talking about growing their family once more. They knew financially they couldn’t afford IVF. In January 2019, Samantha underwent laparoscopic surgery to see if there had been issues from her miscarriages and to investigate the abdominal pain she had been experiencing for several years. Her doctor found that her left fallopian tube was completely closed due to scar tissue from her ectopic pregnancy. Samantha and Nick’s chances of conceiving were now even lower.

For the next nine months, they couple tried IUI procedures with different medications ranging from oral to injectables. After no success, Samantha and Nick decided it was time to stop treatments and start looking deeper into IVF. Unfortunately, IVF was not a financial option for them. They began researching IVF grants and found Parental Hope’s FaceBook page. From there, they attended Parental Hope’s Spring for Hope Gala for a chance at the IVF raffle. Samantha and Nick learned more about Parental Hope and the ways the organization helps couples achieve their dreams through donations and grants.

“We decided after the spring raffle, we would apply for the fall grant and thankfully, we were chosen to receive a grant. We are beyond grateful and excited to be given this opportunity and a chance to make our dreams of parenthood a reality.”
