Kara & Allen

In September of 2009, fate brought Kara and Alan together. Although they had attended the same school, it wasn’t until Alan reached out to Kara through MySpace that their paths finally crossed. From that moment on, their connection grew stronger, and after two years of dating, they decided to take the plunge and tie the knot.

As a young couple, Kara and Alan decided to wait a few years before starting a family of their own. In the meantime, they showered love and affection on their two adorable cats, Charlie and Jasper. In 2018, they took a significant step forward by purchasing their first house, ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives.

However, their journey to parenthood didn’t come without its challenges. After a year of trying to conceive without success, Kara and Alan sought medical assistance. Unfortunately, their hopes were shattered when they experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2019. The couple took the time they needed to heal emotionally before mustering the strength to try again.

In 2021, they underwent an IUI attempt, which unfortunately didn’t result in a pregnancy. Determined to explore all options, Kara underwent an HSG procedure in 2023, which revealed the devastating news of a blocked fallopian tube. Their doctor recommended IVF as the best course of action, but the financial burden seemed insurmountable.

Amidst their struggles, Kara and Alan discovered a glimmer of hope in the form of the Parental Hope Grant. With bated breath, they applied, hoping for a chance to make their dreams come true. And in December, their prayers were answered! They received the incredible news that they had been chosen as recipients of the grant, opening the door to their long-awaited journey towards parenthood.

“We could not have asked for a better Christmas gift. It’s been a long and difficult road dealing with infertility, but we are now so hopeful, and look forward to starting our IVF journey in 2024!”
