Jake and Kayla met in 2012 when her grandmother and his mother decided to set them up through Facebook. They talked for a few days before deciding to meet in-person. After talking for hours getting to know each other, they knew this was the start of something special!
The couple got married in 2015 and knew they wanted to start a family right away. After six months went by with no luck, they sought out an opinion from their doctor. Some testing was done and everything came back normal. Kayla’s doctor started them out with a few rounds of clomid. When that didn’t work, Jake and Kayla got referred to a fertility specialist. More testing and surgeries were completed with the diagnosis of unexplained infertility.
After a bunch of medications, injections, and IUIs, they had their first positive pregnancy test. Unfortunately, that ended quickly with a chemical pregnancy. Jake and Kayla moved onto IVF a few months later, which also sadly ended with an early miscarriage. Their second round of IVF was unsuccessful.
“After all the heartache, we needed to take time away from treatments. Here we are a few years later ready to try for a third time. We heard of Parental Hope through two of our friends who have received the grant. It was a blessing for them, so we decided to give it a shot and apply.
